Compare our glass pet door options

Choose the right pet door for your cat or dog. Every door below is fitted into a brand-new toughened safety glass panel made to measure for your opening.

Your quote comes in two parts.

  • The glass - a brand-new toughened panel, made to measure with the pet door opening already in it, supplied and installed. Quoted on the size of your panel and whether it is single or double glazed.
  • The pet door - the door assembly itself, plus the work of fitting it into that panel. That is the price shown below.

You get both figures before any work starts.

Four options, sized around your pet

Weight ranges are a starting point. At the on-site measure we size the opening around your pet's shoulder height and chest width, which is what actually determines whether they will use it comfortably.

Questions

Choosing the right door

What exactly does the price include?

Your quote comes in two separate parts.

The glass. A brand-new toughened safety panel, made to measure with the pet door opening already in it, supplied and installed by our glaziers. This is quoted on the size of your panel and whether it is single glazed or a double glazed unit.

The pet door. The door assembly itself, plus the work of fitting it into that panel. This is the price shown above.

You will have both figures before any work starts, so you can see exactly what each part costs.

I can buy the same pet door cheaper online. Why is yours more?

You often can, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

If you find the same door online for $80 and ours is quoted at $100, that difference is us fitting the assembly into the glass panel we have made for you. It is not a markup on the part - it is the labour to fit it.

The other thing worth knowing is that a pet door cannot be fitted into your existing glass. Toughened safety glass cannot be cut once it is made, so a brand-new panel has to be manufactured with the opening already in it. That is the separate glass quote, and it applies whether the door came from us or from you.

If you have already bought a door, that is genuinely fine - we are happy to fit a customer-supplied one. Bring it to the measure so we can confirm the exact cut-out size before the panel is ordered.

How do I choose between a circular and a rectangular door?

Circular Transcat doors sit lower in profile and blend more discreetly into a glass panel, which suits cats and smaller dogs. Rectangular doors give a wider and taller opening for larger breeds, and add a magnetic closure and brush weather seal.

Circular and larger doors also need more clearance from the edges of the glass, which can affect how low the door can be positioned.

My dog is between two sizes. Which should I pick?

Measure shoulder height and chest width rather than going by weight. A flap that is technically large enough can still be uncomfortable if it is heavy to push or the opening sits too high to step through.

If your dog is still growing, we size for the adult dog. We will confirm the right size at the measure.
